C.H. PAVING — Tar & Chip

Along with asphalt paving, we also provide our customers with tar and chip services in New Jersey. This is an alternative to asphalt paving and is ideal for both residential and commercial applications. Tar and chip is a low cost and economical choice, and it also offers an elegant appearance. Despite being affordable, tar and chip offer a sturdier surface than gravel.

Not to mention, tar and chip paving is also low maintenance, which translates to further cost savings. So if you’re looking for an alternative to asphalt, tar and chip pavement is an excellent substitute. The paving method is the same, but you get a greater variety of texture and color with tar and chip.

Tar and chip installation is simple as well, considering we have the best equipment for the job. We start with an initial roadbed, followed by a gravel base that acts as the first layer. We then pour a hot layer of liquid asphalt to hold the gravel base intact. At C.H. Paving, we have a fleet of trucks to ensure a continuous pour of asphalt and the least number of seams.

The next step is to pour stones over the asphalt layer and smoothing it with a blacktop roller. We will then sweep away any loose rocks that are not pressed deeply into the asphalt. For tar and chip paving, you can use a wide range of stones. Also, note that you can apply tar and chip to an existing pavement, provided it is in good condition.
